If gluing acrylic to a vertical surface apply the glue to the wood in thin beads that are 2 inches apart. Before applying the glue position the acrylic to make sure it fits. Sand the plastic surface lightly. After these steps the acrylic should bond to the wood.

Sanding the plastic will make it more porous and increase its overall surface area allowing it to bond to the wood more easily. Position the dot 1 inch from each side. Capillary action will draw the glue into the joint. But if you apply enough stress to that plastic its gonna pop right off.

Put the acrylic on the edge where you want it and place the needle of the glue filled applicator where the two pieces meet. Attach a 1 4 inch drill bit to a power drill and place the bit directly over any of the four marks on. Take care not to over tighten the screw because the plastic will crack. Screw the acrylic to the wood using wood screws until the head of the screw is flush with the surface of the acrylic.

Cut the tip of the tube to desired thickness. Go over the broadest area of the plastic piece with a square of high grit sandpaper before you get gluing.
