Hunter Ceiling Fan Only Has 2 Speeds

On the third pull it will turn off.

When on pulling the chain once or twice doesn t alter the speed. I still only have the high speed. Turning the knob to high or medium did nothing. On the rare occasion there is a problem it can come as a bit of a shock especially as it usually happens after a period of non use through the winter once the weather starts to warm up.

I recently turned it off and when i turned it back on only the high speed is working. The 4 wire switch has markings on one side that shows l 1 2 3. Has anyone had this problem before. Luckily finding out the source of the problem is not all that difficult.
